you have found the Middle TN addict thread WARNING there is no cure for the addiction and only a 12 step program to help you through it.
Step 1 Meet Me,Anne And Jen we will get you started
Step 2 Get a few chicks
Step 3 Get more chicks
Step 4 Buy an Incuabtor
Step 5 Buy eggs
Step 6-7 wait for both to arrive
Step 8-take long walks for 21 days noticing everyone's chickens..birds..ducks..it really doesn't matter
Step 9 stare endlessly on day 21 for the fuzzy Butt
Step 10-do it all over again
Step 11 Move to the Country
Step 12-Build a big chicken house and fill it
Jen-the house almost next door to me is for sale..newer decent house...land all fenced for animals.Oh wait you-me same road only about 40 acres between us NOT a good idea

could you see what would happen with no animal restrictions
oldchickenlady be careful with Pauls he allows for single combs and he ships plenty in a box.Jerry-Foley's won't allow for single combs. We have his Blue Laced now and adding Partridge and BBS when I go up.I have no resistance

Really,I have no idea what will be in the box...I can't wait to find out.
It will be a good productive day here Paul's wiring then all I need is the insulation and interior walls and the kids move out

Our hatch is complete..don't have the final numbers yet since I've been out selling cookies but it was real good. Some beautiful big one's and lots of adorable bantam cochins and a few Silkie Sams-Silkie Bantam Ameraucana cross. Tomorrow brings more cookies and more cookies so very little chicken time

Does anyone here have Buff Orpingtons? We have Australorps coming but I really wanted some orpingtons too. My husband wasn't sure if they would be all right with our TN summers though, not sure how "heat hardy" they are.

Holly ,when you said Foleys had some cheaper on his auction site, did you mean the featherauction. If so which ones were you talking about being cheaper. I had a little difficulty figuring out if all those were his birds or not.

Troyer the auction that we have been talking about is at Elkton.Ky. Here is the address so you can mapquest it.200 Tess Shop Rd. Elkton,Ky,42220
It will be a ways for you like it is us,but you should try at least once. Being new you must understand this a riral "farm" minded auction and the birds and animals may not always be presented in the cleanillyest or most humane way but its the way "country folk have done it forever. It is a way to find new birds ,new breeds, old breeds ,unusuall breeds. And some not so desirable ones!We had two of our ladys go this last time for their first time and they were terribly disappointed at the conditions the birds were sold in. They also maintain NPIP closed flocks and treat their birds very nicely and hadn't ever seen the "auction" side of the fancy,so you just need to understand that what you will see won't be catalog or website perfect. But with all that said I for one totally enjoy it. And have found some great birds at the sales. There is another place north of you in Ky that has a poultry swap. I think it starts back up this month. It has a pretty good size following. You can look it on the web...Timand Susiespoultryswap or it might be under Timandsusiesieshenhouse, I don't remember which. Its in Scottsville,Ky.

Troyerchicks I have some Buff Orpington's for sale if your interested. They do fine in this heat..I just need to cut back and they got the "chopping block" not literally I'm sure they are glad of that.We have some pullets that hatched over Thanksgiving 5-6 one is looking suspiciously roosterish then we have a pair that hatched last fall she's either laying now or real close..and another spare roo same age. If you wanted them all I would give you a great price on them

Okla-Foley's have the BLRW chicks on the chick thread of his auction site don't want to put the web site down and get into trouble ..think they have an opening bid of $65 for 10 which is a lot lower than his normal pricing. He's got chicks everywhere but doesn't have my blue's ready so I can't go get mine just yet..BLRW Partridge and Blue. I'm a sucker for big ol Wyandotte's love them all
