Wow did everyone get busy yesterday chatting while I was away

Matlock..if you wait for a bunch of mostly women to quit chatting...it's going to be a very long wait so jump in whenever you want..we don't mind.Good luck on that hatch.
I like the meet up idea here in Lebanon and M'Boro then a big meet up..some weeks and months I'm more free but then there are the crazy times. I'm fine with being the point person in Lebanon if no one else wants it.

Tracyree I use the hardware cloth on my coops only...we have a 3 sided shed and the coops are built on the outside walls up off the floor.My runs are all chicken wire but we have electric running on the top and bottom of it all so nothing can get near it.The reason is because my chickens are in the front yard and when you look out the chicken wire "goes away" more than the hardware cloth does.Plus, the amount of runs we have here I would have to own the oil companies.We have Mr Coon and his friends Bob the Cat,Sleepy Opossum,Wiley the Coyote,and Tinkerbell the Jack Russell

for ground threats and Those darn Hawks for air but so far only Mr darn Hawk has had his dinner-and that has been fixed.

Believer-I slow my hatching down this time of year because of the what to do with the chicks issue.Chicks are everywhere right now so I quit and have some fun.It's not easy even with family taking care of my birds to leave and get away with a few hundred baby chicks...so when I get back from the Ocean..hopefully the ocean this year we shall turn on a bator I also don't want to end up with so many of my chicks I have to sell them for a fraction of what I should.

Troyer-a broody Cochin is as normal as the sun rising in the morning this time of year..they love to be Momma's and do a great job.If you want to break her put her in a jail for a few days with water and food..just don't look at her eyes while she's in there..she will be heartbroken

Thanks for all the wishes! So far she's back on the nest and doing well. I'm going to give her til late in the week and then try candling and see if they're viable. Keeping my fingers crossed as well.

wish I could tell you more on my eggs, but they just look like blobs when I candle em. I'm doing my one week candling this weekend, pics to follow.
I'm not committed to the wal mart eggs yet, but they looked similar to the fertile ones so I decided to keep them till I candle this weekend. I really only used those to see how adding eggs would affect my temp/humidity. Thanks for your interest.

Nah... not too sensitive. We ladies are just used to talking all over the top of each other and following all 19 conversations at the same time.

I understand that men are more straight line conversationalists.

Matlock, you gotta remember that women are used to doing about 6 different things at once - we can hold a baby on one hip, while stirring a pot o' beans, and answering the 101st question of the toddler at our other side, running to answer the phone before the machine picks up; pluck the thermometer from child #2's mouth and clean up the mess that the dog made while chasing the cat (again!). All of this while listening for the dryer to shut off so the clothes don't wrinkle, and the timer for the pan of cornbread! Oh yeah - gotta mark on the grocery list that we need taters and onions, dish soap and, what was it? Yeah, more chicken scratch!
