Looking forward to finally getting my chicks. Not sure how much longer though, I'm still in a holding pattern. Working on the coop and no brooder box. Humph, I'll get em someday soon.

The ones from me hatch next Monday... then they have to grow some....Maybe you will be done by then. You will probably not need a brooder box for them... they will not need heat if the weather holds. If you want them at hatch... I know a guy that will take your little roos.

i'll wait till there a little bigger if thats ok. unless you need the room. i still need to get some more materials for the coop, and trying to keep cost down as low as possible. i figure i have about 75.00 worth of wire to buy. And something like 80.00 worth of galvinized roofing. plus the chicks.( you never really told me how much you wanted but i figured you'd be fair

You need to let me in on this secret I need some where for my 1st cull roos to go!

I put them on CL when they were little and had several people that wanted them. I was giving the little roos away so I don't have to grow them up. Try it.... you might be surprised. People will take little roos for lots of reason. I heard that zoos will take them too.

This weather is to hot for spring

We basically skipped winter this year - we went from a blazing hot summer to fall - and a mild fall at that - and now right on into late spring/early summer weather. I wish we could skip the blazing hot - 100+ - weather this summer. That's so miserable. There were only 3 or 4 days during the winter that I had to deal with frozen water in the coop - and it was only barely frozen on those days.

I've got a community ladies' meeting at my house on Thursday morning - and they want a tour of my "chicken operation" after the meeting. So I've had my son (the landscaper) over here with his crew landscaping and prettying-up around my garden and chicken house. My chickens won't recognize their own coop after this!

Having company is always a good motivation for me to get things done around the house and yard.

I packed up my incubators and all related supplies and stored them in the barn today. NO MORE INCUBATING until at least the fall - or maybe even next year. I've got a broody that is sitting on three eggs. She started off with four eggs - but when she was off the nest for a few minutes earlier today, I peeked and one of the eggs was broken - looked like it had been broken for at least a few days - it was all dried up. So maybe we'll get two or three chicks from the three remaining eggs. She still has two weeks to go.

What's everybody else doing these days?
