OH no if you're just talking 2 pr of birds or so, a small pond will be fine. I thought you were wanting to GET INTO WATERFOWL, lol
Yep as exoticduckluvr mentioned, small scale ponds like that wrok just fine.
Now on the other hand, with 3 peafowl and 4 pheasants, just how big of a pen are we talking here? They usually will not mess with the ducks, it's the duck mess that can hurt the others. If the pens so small that the ducks make a mud hole out of it, then your peafowl and pheasants will suffer more from possible disease from the mud. Just keep that in mind.
Usually, unless the pen is huge (several thousand sq feet) it is best not to pen upland birds with waterfowl for this reason.
I was just thinking of number of pheasants. I have the 3 peafowl. So it looks like I wont put them together with waterfowl.
I WANT to get into waterfowl, however I have to start really small since my dad is not a big duck fan at all. Its sorta like meeting a new person. You arent going to tell them EVERYTHING about you. Your gonna tell them your "basics" at first. Then you telll them more and more depnding if they are decent or not. He needs to gain trust in the ducks before
I spend a lot of money in them, since I buy the birds. The last thing I want is to build a nice aiviary, spend $500(lets say) in birds, and have to sell them since my dad doesnt like them. Thats why im starting really small.
I know what you mean, I started very young and my dad thought I was crazy, but after a few years when the phone constantly rang off the hook wanting to talk to me, and my weekends were solely filled with people coming by to see or buy, he shut up about it, LOL tHAT BRONX ZOO THING REALLY MADE HIM LAY OFF,
