The Migratory/Ornamental Waterfowl INFO Thread

Yall probably know I Cant have chickens where I live. But Karen one of my friends gave me some dark brown eggs that had sparkles in them and he called them "Cuckoo Marans." They were beautiful eggs! tasty too .LOL!

I dont know too much about the chicken breeds. I dont remember if Cuckoos are rare , I just remember the beautiful eggs. They were the prettiest chicken egg I had ever seen!

How wonderful Aubrey that you were able to come down and meet Shawn & Irene.

yep it was nice to go do.

Yall dont get mislead by the term endangered on chickens. I have some of the rarest chicken breeds in the world, yet they arent classed as such, no hatchery in the world has these either... Yet most of the "endangered" breeds are sold by the millions threw US hatcheries alone every year... Makes you wonder just what is endangered about them dont it??? LOL

The cuckoo maran a few years ago was a high dollar chicken, but like all others, when some one makes money off a breed or color, everybody gets it and floods the market... they are pretty much dime a dozen deals now.

It is the
Empadorsana and I can;t find them anywhere so I ordered some Welsummers and easter eggers and well some other chickens because You know I have a bird problems..My dad just want the dark colored eggs and well I like the colored ones :) I am determined to make the farm my real job in the next 5 years... well right after I get my sea duck pen

I am abuot to order some mallar hen babies in hopes of getting them in and out of my brood house/catch pen before my babies start producing good.. Though I am expecting sharp wing teal next week.

I still have Fulvous Tree Ducks and ring teal pairs left if anyone needs some.. they might be text dummies and get put on the pond.. well the fulvous that is..

I think I might get some chinese geese at that...

Thanks got it ordered...

Adding new birds to the collection next weekend....

but now I will have to find them mates because some are not pairs but I can't resist!
