Hello Everyone,

I am becoming so addicted to BYC. What a wonderful find and great info!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes and No; My Grandparents had meat chickens and layers for many years.
Along with an acre year round garden, they provided for themselves, six children with spouses and 22 grandchildren. I received my first flock of 11 (My Girls) May/08. My real Girls helped me handle, feed, and care for them. 3 have a home until natural death. This year I with the help of my DH I have my new flock comming of age.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 26 (Eight are from my first flock)

(3) What breeds do you have?
The Girls were a barnyard surprise from Ideal Poultry. I haven't figured out all of the breeds yet.
My new flock are Marans: Red-Browns/Black Coppers (the hen are true to the descriptions but the roo's of this group look more like the Wheaten's, 3 Splash hens, CooCoos and Two Blues (I think)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Thru Google

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? My family; a garden until the chickens came; remodeling our house.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
One Husband and Two Girls; A Brazillian Mastif; A Beta; I'm a receptionist in the big city of Houston (TX) but live in the country. It is worth the drive.
