Sky woke up to a scream and fell off the couch. ‘ You fell asleep watching tv again?’ They murmured to themself as they dug around for the remote. They had been stuck in their apartment for awhile now, all the doors locked and barricaded from the inside.

Emily was sitting at her small, spindly desk when she glanced out of her small window. She did a double-take when she saw the sky growing lighter as the sun began to rise. It's morning already? she wondered, incredulous. She rubbed her eyes. That meant she had been reading all night. Again. Standing up, she closed her book gently and whispered a quiet thank you to it. Emily took a quick look in her old, cracked mirror and tied her hair back. Not that she cared about her appearance. Not anymore, at least.

After turning down the tv, Sky walked over to the bathroom. Their hair was a mess, but they didn’t care to brush it anymore. It needed to be re-dyed, but they weren’t leaving that apartment for anything. They searched around in the cabinet for a minute, and found an almost empty bottle of hair-dye that had probably expired. Sky wasn’t planning on using it anyways, as it was red and they didn’t like having red hair, so they just tossed it in the bin.

Kit put a dark green jumper on, a little embarrassed at how much skin she showed on her shoulders and neck because of the spaghetti straps. Grabbing a cardigan out of her closet, she wrapped her notebooks up in it, just in case she felt like wearing it later. She opened the door to her apartment and walked out.
