Sky looked in the refrigerator, they were all out of milk. They sighed and started putting makeshift armor on to protect from the monsters. A pot on their head, cookie sheets duct tapped into chest armor, and pillows covering everything else. A pan for a weapon of course. They started taking the barricades down and slowly unlocked the door to the apartment. Sky slowly walked into the hallway, keeping their pan in an attack position.

Kit jumped as she heard a noise behind her. She turned quickly, gasping.

(btw Kit doesn't know about the monsters yet. For the past month, she hasn't left her apartment because of her writing, and she doesn't have social media or anything.)

Sky let out a scream and ran towards the exit. The pot almost fell off their head, and they struggled to keep it on.

Kit yelped, leaping backwards. "Oh my gosh help! There's a crazy woman in the hallway!"

(btw she doesn't know that Sky is non-binary. This is her first assumption. I'm not trying to be rude or anything. When she knows that she's non-binary, she'll refer to them as "them" etc.)

‘ I AM NOT A WOMAN, MONSTER.’ Sky screamed as they started trying to open the door out of the building.

Sky started hitting their pan against the door out, as the handle was jammed. ‘ Stupid door. I am stuck with a monster and now is when you decide not to open.’ They muttered under their breath.

‘ I AM NOT A WOMAN, MONSTER.’ Sky screamed as they started trying to open the door out of the building.

"Oh!" Kit said, backing up against the elevator. She pressed the button rapidly. "Please don't call me a monster!" Great, first day after finishing your novel and getting out of that crappy apartment, and you're already encountering crazy and rude people.

‘ Why are you even out here? If you aren’t a monster already, you’ll be killed by one quick if you aren’t prepared like I am.’ Sky said as they continued to try and open the door.
