This is the hen that lost her baby a few days ago that I didn't know was broody. Separated her and her staggered clutch so hopefully they make it this time. Are these more surprise mystery babies, or did you know about these ones?
Original surprise got smothered unfortunately. But this mama is one of the 2 that was on the nest. I don't know who the other one was, but obviously she's not distraught enough to show herselfI think those are the original surprises?
Silly chick off to visit friends without asking permission firstGuess who found out that Boots’ chick can slip through the gaps in the rabbit cage I have her in at the moment? I did! I got home from work to check on her and Starch. Well, I couldn’t reach Boots because she was in the far corner of the cage and I didn’t want to get on the floor, so I used my fingers to wiggle her butt but didn’t hear any peeping. Then, I DEFINITELY got on the floor, reached in to lift her up and no chick! Gone!
Started freaking out and moving wood chips and looking around the coop; thinking it might’ve gotten killed or something. Happened to see Cookie, my other broody who hatched ducks, and was like maybe? Lifted her up and there was the little guy all warm and toasty with Cookie’s ducklings. I didn’t think to take a picture of that at the time but here’s CookieView attachment 3101864
