The Moonshiner's Chick Chat

Are your Orphlingtons autosexing?
I have no idea? Is that why they all look completely different? I know I just sold all mine that didn't visually carry Mahogany. The person I got them from liked the lighter red. I wasn't that red so dark it's almost black. Should I let you take a wack at sexing them by stripes and chipmunk bits and see how many you get right?

The jury is still out on the chipmunk bits. So far, all the ones with the black spots on their heads have all been female. If I’m not mistaken, Orps were one of the breeds in that article about autosexing.

Hmmm. I'll have to have a look when I get home.

I dont remember which is which but gamefowl folk tell by weather the chick has a dark stripe from eye to back of head or a broad faint line not connecting to the eye. I'll try to find it. I believe the dark straight eye stripe is female
I keep meaning to see just how well my pheonixes do with that saying. Of course, I don't breed for it, but I'm just curious

My dark bantam Buckeye chicks can be sexed sort of but it’s not very reliable.
