Hey @Overo Mare do your Cochin lay different shades of eggs? Or are all your varieties roughly identical?

I have a nest of Japanese/Cochin and Cochin eggs being sat on from my barred and maybe frazzled pullets (I have an old Japanese hen with the Cochin from this spring) and I spotted a darker brown mixed with the tans

Mine have only ever layed cream colored eggs. I can't tell them apart from anyone else's.

Okay thanks. That what my old splash girl lays, these are like a definite tan as opposed to cream. Though these are hatchery birds too, so that might explain the shade difference

The only eggs GF sells are potlucks and I've seen some people that sold the newest birds from there (the ketwas were the main one I was looking at) for 30~ an egg, only to have people claim they weren't ketwas. With my luck I'd get something like a Wyandotte from those types

@Overo Mare Have you ever had a frazzled cochin? My girl (dubbed Crispy Critter) turned out to be a frazzled instead of a frizzle, and I heard they can sometimes have internal problems

No no hell no.
I'm not against frizzled or silkied feathers but they only work on kids breeds like cochins, silkies, polish etc.

Have never had a frazzle. I've heard they can have heart issues.
