I mean, not based on the sexlinked gene, but hens with the extended black gene have more black on their white or yellow legs than males. That said, it is usually less evident in chicks but can be seen in barred Rocks.

Interesting, I never owned most breeds so I don't know the little details they exhibit.

Gentically, barring changes the blue leg to white leg. I'm not sure how it works, I just know what I experience. For instance, if you have a white feathered breed that tends to be blue legged, you can add the barring gene and it changes the leg color to white.

Yes and no. Barring doesn’t change the legs at all. It’s just so far apart from the id (dark skin color) gene that they are unlikely to be passed together. It is possible for a barred bird to have slate legs but it is rare.

Here's another picture of Samhain, the weirdo. Nothing screaming Orpington genetics. But considering mama is almost as scrawny and leggy as they come, I'm not too surprised
