Lavender and blue are different genetically I believe... someone who understands will explain it
Am I right or have I royally screwd up there?
Correct.

I think it's because some are a purpley tint. Especially when paired with buff or white. They're also called self-blue

It’s cause blue really does look blue sometimes, especially when paired with orange. Optical illusion. My brain physically sees the blue orange contrast, just like how grey eyed folks can appear to have blue eyes.
But in reality blue is just word for of a lot of grey dilute animals.

These two can attest to that

I thought that grey follows the silver gene in chickens and that blue is an entirely different color scheme. In the pit game world, greys are usually something with silver in them.

No you're right!
Don't listen to her! She doesn't know anything about genes in chickens.

She is right though. Lavender (Self Blue) is different than Blue (Andalusian Blue).

This is the issue with people just making stuff up. Like Elven Fart x Fairy Wing Farli chickens or some other ridiculousness. Why in every dog breed is this merle?

Because people randomly decide to call a thing a thing. You see it all the time in the pet trade where common names are shared by multiple species.
