The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Pictures of splashes I have.

The one on the left is splash.

From my research, I have come to the conclusion that my Legbars have Cb in addition to Ig, so that is interesting and could prove very useful. The way I came to this conclusion is because:

1. Cb does not affect chick down color. My F1 Legbar/Leghorn chicks all looked very much like gold duckwings with no disruption in pattern.
2. Ig is recessive and would not show up in a heterozygous state.
3. Cb is dominant and would show up in a heterozygous state.

In addition to using the non-cream looking F1 project birds for the Crele project, I could use the cream looking F1 birds to make an attempt at breeding a line of Golden Leghorns that will breed true, using gold duckwing based birds and Cb as the diluter to create the golden coloration. Yet another project to add to the list of projects. 🥴

So fun morning. Found someone looking for a couple call ducks. I've got a few more then I need so when then made me an offer I figured I could let go of a couple that didn't fit with my plans.
Of course nothing goes smoothly and "for safety" reasons they wanted to meet in a public place. It's a female. OK I get that but they weren't making that good of an offer for me to be going out of way or spending extra gas and time.
I needed to run to a bigger town a ways over this morning and it was in their direction. I told them and they happily agreed and suggested meeting at TSC.
Oh geez. One of my most disliked places. OK whatever.
They text and said they're on there way and would be in a steel blue Chevy Equinox. I was already driving so I didn't text back and got there 5 minutes before arranged time.
I made a loop through the parking lot and there was a steel blue Equinox parked at the edge with 2 empty spots next to it. Lady sitting inside.
I pulled in leaving one spot between us and hope out, open tailgate and pull the cage to the edge. I look over and they're sitting there watching. Window up car running. Of course I do the roll down window signal and take a step or two.
She leaves window up goes into full viking berserker mode flailing around and waving her arms all over and then speeds out of the parking spot.
I'm thinking now must have been the wrong person as she speeds around the parking lot then comes back to park T-bone behind my truck. Rolls her window half way down and starts cussing me how I can think it's alright to park next to a single female in a parking lot then want to approach them.
OK my bad I'm there to meet someone in the same make, model and color vehicle as her. Idk maybe I was in the wrong or maybe I encountered the well known but elusive creature known as the Karen.
Anyways fun times. I'm surprised I didn't get pepper sprayed.

Wow, definitely found a wild Karen!

They're not a native species in my area.
I'm still trying to get used to invasive species here.
Like last week I saw a real live armadillo scurry across the road less than a half block from my house. I've seen those dead on the roads before but not often and this was the first live one anywhere near me that I've seen.

Oh out 12 silver Ameraucana eggs that made into lockdown 9 hatched. I'm happy with that.
Yeah I'd be happy with that. I'll have to take a final count and pics later today but I think this week was another near 50% hatch.
I either going to need to figure this out or start setting a cr@p load of eggs at a time.
I'm hoping for around 30 or 36 chicks per hatch.
