No I actually don't. It is very difficult for me.
With what I do I get a lot of mixed pattern birds or patterned birds that don't further projects. Those aren't so bad to let go because I don't need them.
But at times even "not needing" doesn't matter much.
Its hard to let go and accept having less in general. Last fall I was going through cockerels to see who I needed to keep.
Of course you need a top one and then a good back up is almost necessary but then I started questioning if one back up was enough. Maybe two would be better or even three.
It was ridiculous but real.

It all depends how bad I need to get rid of some. As far as for type usually I have a good idea by 6 months. Definitely hang onto boys for a year is best.

Wow, I would have thought the Leghorn cockerels by nine months would be mature enough to not hang onto them a year. With the English Orpingtons it's a given I'm going to grow them out for nine months before I pick a few potential keepers and then a year before I pick the one I like the best. I hate feeding them that long though, so I always wonder how many phenomenal cockerels are on someone's dinner table or covering their mutt chickens in the backyard. lol

Last hatch season I was setting 41 eggs every 6 or 7 days.
Some hatches weren't great. I remember a couple were 15- 18 chicks I think. Lots averaged 30- 35.

I'm sure you've mentioned it before but what is your brooder set up for raising that many chicks?

Well I’m pretty sure that the yellow ones are Buff Orpingtons because I’ve seen enough of them. I think that the other ones are Leghorns though.

Leghorns can be buff.
Buff is a color, not a breed.

What are you talking about? These are all obviously buff Orpingtons.
