The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Had to make a feed run.

I set 58 eggs. Not expecting a great hatch, Idk.
A lot were pullet eggs from exchequer and lavender silver duckwing/lavender gold duckwing pens.
A couple barred lavender gold duckwing, blue silver duckwing project, barred exchequer project and maybe one or two others. I don't remember.

So a potluck of surprises!

I forget, do you label the eggshells when you set them?

Ya I use 2 letter codes so I can keep track. I write the code and hatch date on the air sack end so when they hatch it stays intact.
I keep eggs separated by projects in the hatcher. Some I put together if there's no way to get them mixed up.
A lot goes into keeping track of who's who. Keep adults separate. Mark eggs before leaving pen or removing. Keeping them separate in hatcher and making sure all chicks match shells once hatched.
Then immediately toe punching chicks.

That sounds interesting, but messy pattern-wise. Do you have any pictures or illustrations of what they would look like when the pattern is established?
I don't remember.

Write everything down...lol I need to get a daily planner just for the chickens.

How do you separate them? I'm going to have to start doing that real soon with all the mess my breeding pens are right now.
