The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Back to not being Red or Mottled I see. lol
Yup, overseas, they vary from area to area and from show to show from what I've seen. Some may be just pet quality birds or in-process birds. Most of the caged ones I post are from breeders that show. Although lately there haven't been many recent pictures of shows, probably due to the health concerns the past year. But then, I've been looking at the breeder clubs and organizations, and they haven't posted recent show winners, not for a long while even before that. I may be off, but I think the hobby over there needs some new blood.. I read a lot of people are retiring...Could be also that they are holding their cards close to their chests, IDK. I don't want to speculate...sounds like I'm riffing. For example that bunch of pics from, UK, NZ, and Australia I posted a few back? Those pics are as old as 4 to 10 years old.
BUT there are a ton of very recent hatching eggs for sale being advertised over there. Day old and a week old listings for ALL kinds of Leghorns...Black, Buff, Blue, Lavender,Isabellas,Mottled,so.... yeah still active people over there. Maybe they are waiting for the flood gates to open up again once the restrictions go away.

@ MIAMI LEGHORN @ColtHandorf @anyone else that breeds.
Back to those runs you all are building or playing on building.
What size runs and how many birds are you planning?
Going with the standard 10 SF per bird or?

So for the bantam runs, I'm going a little smaller...

The whole run is 12 ft long and 5 ft wide for each of them. The back 4 ft of the run will be enclosed (think loafing shed) where nest boxes, roosts, and feed will be. For the Orpingtons, they'll be in runs that are 20 ft long and 10 ft. wide. I'm undecided on their "house" size. part of me wants to make it 10 ft x 10 ft, but that may be too large? I may do it 10 ft wide by 8 ft deep. Not sure...8 ft tin is certainly less expensive. For the big birds I was following the 10 sq. ft rule, so I should be able to get 20 birds in those pens, but I'm wanting to cap at fifteen I think...12 females and 3 males.
