You’re making me want to hatch more chicks. I hate summer chicks. Keeping them cool enough, fed, and watered in the summer is wretched. And I hate keeping babies on wire. All they do is waste feed.

2nd the notion of keeping them cool. I use puppy pads and change them often. I get them at dollar tree and they fit in the tote when folded. When they get big enough I have a raised coop outside I call the nursery that has hardware cloth on the bottom so their feet stay pretty clean.

This huge crate just arrived today. I spoke to the guys at the site,and I asked them if I could take the wood after they we're done taking the equipment out. They said no problem. I ask them if they could to maintain the Integrity of the shape from the crate they said they dont need to destroy it, to get the parts out,just untie the straps. So keeping my fingers crossed I'll be by in the afternoon to pick up what's left.

I lost a promising chick and a whole clutch of eggs to a bullsnake. I put up a fight for that last egg, but it didn't make it the night after I got the snake out
