The Moonshiner's Leghorns

@The Moonshiner
This huge crate just arrived today. I spoke to the guys at the site,and I asked them if I could take the wood after they we're done taking the equipment out. They said no problem. I ask them if they could to maintain the Integrity of the shape from the crate they said they dont need to destroy it, to get the parts out,just untie the straps. So keeping my fingers crossed I'll be by in the afternoon to pick up what's left.

That's what I'm talking about right there.

The snakes 🐍 are really bad in my area and I hate losing chicks to snakes.
We are having a rat problem in my area, more so than last season. I never had my mangoes damaged as this year. Where we would usually let them semi-ripen on the trees and pick them as they changed color, now we have to pick them early as the rats aren't even waiting to bite into the few that fall, they are knocking them down themselves to eat and leave the refuse for us to pick up in the morning. Can't tell if it's a huge colony, but enough to raise serious concerns. So we've got rat traps set up at night, and pick them up in the morning before the chooks are released into their open runs... a Daisy BB gun and flashlight when I have time at night. I have no time for humane solutions. Our radishes, Brussels, tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers can't get going as the rats don't give them a chance to get any growth. SMDH.

"Miami", I know what you mean about the rats, we had a neighbor to move about a month ago and I have been fighting them ever since. I put out the poison and it got about 90 percent of them. I might have to stake out the den and shoot the rest of them...
I freaking hate rats.

Love hamsters though...

Thankfully I haven't had a huge issue with rodents. After the big snowstorm I had a few of the small wood rats, (?) fat little bodies and short tails...ridiculously cute.

Did a Google and apparently they are Hispid Cotton Rats...ughh. So cute.

Just One Bite did them in, and all the field mice that moved into the barn. I wanted to get rid of them before it warmed up and the snakes got bad. I've actually only seen a few this year. But the first year we moved in I killed 30 in three months and stopped counting. They were living in the bedding in the chicken house and coming out and just eating the eggs as they were laid and killing birds up to four months old. I had to stop locking them up at night so if one bird got taken of the roost the others could get away from the snake. Since then I keep all the younger birds in tiny wire as long as possible.

I did have a terrible rat problem when I lived in town and was keeping the small caged birds. I lost about $2000 in parrot finches in one night. They were ripping them through cages and eating them.

I declared war on them and managed to eradicate most of them. They were absolutely massive. *shudders*
