The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Here they are at 2 days old Inked202009071_204537_resized_1_LI.jpg Inked202009071_204541_resized_1_LI.jpg Inked2020090711_204530_resized_1_LI.jpg

Large, red comb and visible waddles at 4 weeks, BIG tell tale. That is for the first 2. For number 3, the comb and wattles didn't look as big or red, but the pics weren't really good. 4, it didn't have a large or red comb and looks like a pullet to me from posture and structure. You probably have leghorn crosses of some kind.
Still interested to know why you think they might be a cross....?

They might not be. Where did you get the eggs? I've heard of backyard breeders who had one particular breed of hen that they were selling eggs for and they also had a rooster of the same breed but they didn't have their hens isolated from other roosters. They thought the hens would only breed with the male of the same breed. They then sold the eggs as purebred. :he

The lady I got the eggs off has been breeding chooks for a long time.... although as you say you never really know unless you have control over "whos bred to who" yourself :)
