GFFs
In my experience yes the prices are over the top but who am I to complain?
When people are willing to give up their money there's always someone willing to take it.
IMO their birds aren't very good quality. Not the quality people think. They do have some hard to find breeds and do import breeds but the birds you'll be getting will have flaws. They're birds to began with in a newer breed. People expect more of a finished product then what they get.
I think their advertising/ pricing should be a bit more in line with the product. But that's just me.
If you want GFF breeds to actually work with I've found it better to wait a year or two. Let the suckers spend the big bucks and then find one that is taking them serious and culling.
You can pick up birds that are twice as nice for half the price.

Moony bought some sort of blue egg layer from them once. They laid green eggs. The absolute only thing they are good for is rare breeds because they import. Other than that, they're sketch and greedy.
How much did he pay? How many did he buy?

Yes! 👏

They were CCLs.
I shared an order with someone and bartered to cover my share.
It was a trio but I ended up getting his trio also when they were still juveniles. I think it was 4 of the 6 that laid green eggs.
Couple years ago I found out the same guy was buying death layers from them and was having zero luck getting them to adult age.
Poor health in that breed.

I think what happens eventually enough people go through the process and find out that the extra money for the birds wasn't worth it.
Quick story...
My wife was dead set on Silkies... legitimate Silkies;bearded non bearded, etc.I called a breeder in Texas and before we even got into pricing he gave me a 25-minute walk through on what to look for what to look out for in this breed, how his were superior to the "pretenders".I actually learned a lot from this guy he was super cool as far as being informative..after about te 40 minute mark, I had to ask," Okay so what are we looking at pricewise"?
$200.00 hen...Roosters were free...
$200.00 plus shipping.
I asked him," is there anything we can work out if I buy a small flock"?...
His demeanor completely changed here and he started getting snarky,"You said you wanted REAL Silkie's right? I thought you said you wanted to buy quality silkies?
I said," Yeah from the sounds of it it looks like your birds are the ones I want but can we work something out"?
He answered with," I thought you wanted real silkies, real quality!"
I was like,"All right kid I'll talk to you later, thank you for your time and the info"...

Yeah if Sandhill basically over-promised and under-delivered that's a case study for a small business ;what not to do;
God knows what they're going through over there so it could be something beyond their control.
Like @The Moonshiner said they may have started with good intentions but the monster just got too big.

Gosh.
Meanwhile we have something called a 4-H hatch where people sell and donate eggs from high-quality breeders to my county 4-H poultry leader to hatch and sell to kids at 3 dollars a chick. Obviously not all are going to turn out show quality but it’s a lot better than the hatchery stock most kids are showing. We got some really nice Silkies from that, and they’re just for pets and meat. I wish I remember who they came from.
I’m sort of annoyed by one fact though. Lots of 4-Hers from other counties came but few came from my county, they didn’t even take advantage of it!
Where’s my competition going to come from?

That’s a great strategy! I never would have thought of that! I wonder if it would be possible for someone to import their own birds too? Probably not? Idk the process or anything but I’m sure it’s complicated. Just wondered if it might be cheaper that way and getting quality birds than going through them but it’s probably better to just do it the way you said and find someone here that has them and is working with them.

As for me I'm sitting tight till next year building some pens and crossing my fingers for some nice eggs coming from a Sensei in Missouri.
🤞
I wanted to build a bunch of pens this year to be set come spring but these d@mn wood prices are killing a hillbilly's dream.
Come spring I might just have a pallet shanty town going on.
