We make feeders and waterers from recycle bin items. My daughter made a bunch one year as a project. We have multiples so it's easy to grab one when setting up a quick brooder, temp tractor, hen hospital, etc. Chicks need to be about a week old before their necks are long enough to use these feeders. I like to hang them so the height can easily be adjusted. (Handles are cut and shaped from wire coat hangers.)

I've seen other people make big feeders with multiple PVC elbows and a storage tote or garbage can. They can dump a whole 50lb bag of feed into those feeders.
