The Moonshiner's Leghorns

That's awesome.
Lots of horror stories with shipped chicks this year. I had no doubt yours would be fine but I'm actually pretty impressed with that quick shipping. Couldn't ask for better.
One less thing to worry about is a good thing 👍
I am very impressed also, and will continue to use MM in the future. The Silver Leghorns are zippy little things and came out of the box lively and ready to go. I absolutely couldn't be happier. I had read the horror stories also, and had a pit in my stomach waiting for my chicks to arrive. I was very relieved to find them all alive and well when I opened the box.
:love

I think I have 4 chicks hatched atm. Hatch day is tomorrow. One hatched yesterday and hasn't been doing good. I'm afraid it's not gonna make it. Probably not ideal to hatch 48 + hours early.
Taking a quick break then setting up the brooder to swap last weeks chicks into.
I hate that the little early hatcher doesn't seem to be doing well. Hopefully the others hatch and do well! And the game of musical brooders begins! lol

Moved the MM chicks to the brooder building today. They are all still lively and doing well. We split the White Leghorns with a friend so I put our 6 and the Buttercup in with my son’s Ameraucanas and the Legbar/Leghorn chick, and put the 14 Silvers in a brooder by themselves. Im curious to see if the eye marking theory holds true. If so, I only have 3-4 pullets in the bunch. That would be a lot of roosters. 😬

Soooo the scavenger struck again on a different pen and took out my silver laced cochin. I don't think it's a coon now as it hasn't eaten the entire bird just the inside. So opossum is more likely to be the culprit. Sigh, now I'm going to be covering the entire pens in hardware cloth.

Oh no!! I hate varmints! Can you set a live trap?
