I’m afraid they are off the menu. My nephews will miss them when they come to visit if they aren’t here. Do Silkies do well free ranging? I have minimal experience with them, and my experience was years ago when I was in high school.

I free ranged mine but put them up at night. No problems.

Am about to order exchequer and black hatching eggs from a few hours away. So fingers crossed they travel alright.

Eggs ordered, but they aren't being shipped till Monday. Ordered 2 doz, a mix of Cuckoo, Blue and Exchequer.

Are Silkies real chickens though? I saw some YouTuber calling hers cats…and putting little overalls on them…and giving them a bath in the sink. So I’m suspicious

I'm suspicious of a YouTuber calling a chicken a cat and bathing them in the sink.

Silkies being real chickens is subjective I guess. Like, are Chihuahuas real dogs? Or just trembling blood thirsty gremlins? A Silkie is like a chicken and a feather duster's love child.

Putting them up at night is too much hassle. I worry due to their floofy crests that obscure their vision, they may be easy pickings to an aerial predator.
