She will be a unique little layer.
Yes, but I won't be hatching from her as I have been reading that it can be a lethal gene that can leave the egg's unhatchable anyways. She will be a unique little layer.![]()
I wouldn't recommend hatching from any bird with defects like that that aren't a part of a breed's specific characteristics. Such pullets are soft culls, which means we keep the pullets as layers only.Yes, but I won't be hatching from her as I have been reading that it can be a lethal gene that can leave the egg's unhatchable anyways.

Where did you read it is a lethal gene? It affects fertility but I haven't heard of that.Yes, but I won't be hatching from her as I have been reading that it can be a lethal gene that can leave the egg's unhatchable anyways.

I know way way back in the day when breeders were switching from the Araucanas to the Ameraucana types it was because many said the rumpless gene was lethal. Most of us bred rumpless to tailed to deal with it. Ended up the tufts genes were the problem. Tufts caused lethal embryo death and yes rumpless caused decreased fertility.Where did you read it is a lethal gene? It affects fertility but I haven't heard of that.
Wow I did not know that. Very interesting and educational.I know way way back in the day when breeders were switching from the Araucanas to the Ameraucana types it was because many said the rumpless gene was lethal. Those were the crazy days.
Ya I was a slow learner.Wow I did not know that. Very interesting and educational.
Those are so cute, I don't know why they selected for a lethal gene in that breed. I can get some pretty short d'Anvers without it XDYa I was a slow learner.
After those days I later got into Japanese bantam. Loved those crazy things but oops d@mn short leg lethal genes.
Never again. Lethal genes suck.
