The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop- A Role Play

“You might be wondering about what this curse is. Every thousand years, we are faced with a plague of insects in swarms in quantities of a thousand summers. Locusts, gnats, bees, and some arachnids mixed in,” Laurel said. “Of immense proportion...”

"Missouri. That's a long way from Maine." Colby looked over at the little man bravely traveling with the unwieldy tray and quickly shook his head. "It all looks really great, but I'm vegan and don't drink coffee." He shrugged and settled himself back into the booth properly, then raised his voice so that it carried to their resilient waiter. "Thanks anyway, sir."

Brid slid into the seat opposite to Colby, clutching hot chocolate and a slice of banana bread, and turned to watch the man talking, shaking her head at his words. “If there are spiders I’m out.” She muttered under her breath, only half joking, before raising her voice so that Laurel could hear her. “I’ve heard of swarms of normal sized bugs but not enormous ones. How are you expecting us to fight something that big? If these bugs are as large as you’re saying then they’re way bigger than us plus we’re almost all kids.”

"Like... Spiders?" Aria asked, freezing up.

"There were arachnids in that mix," Colby affirmed, unconsciously clicking his nails against the tabletop. "So pretty sure that alludes to giant spiders." He didn't have aversion to any insects himself -he liked to think he'd made friends with quite a few invertebrate inhabitants of his garden- but surely a good portion of this group did. After all, didn't arachnophobia affect like 10% of the global population? And factor in a considerable size increase...yeah, there'd be some issues if they were seriously being asked to fight monster bugs. Fighting monster bugs. Yeah, this is...pretty beyond your average weekday.

Fox, after finally building up the courage to come into the main room, slid into one of the only open seats left, beside Brid and Colby. He offered them a small smile, and a half-hearted "hello" under his breath, before looking at Laurel. "She's right, I believe. If these bugs are as large as we are led to believe, then there is no way that we will be capable of fighting them."
He looked around the room with a small shrug, before dragging his gaze to Laurel's. "I don't quite know what you are expecting us to do in this situation, Mr. Laurel. It seems like a lost cause."

“Well, that wasn’t supposed to be an issue,” Laurel muttered.

“The size of insect isn’t quite what you’re thinking. Probably only the size of Mr. Beck here. Most of them, anyways...” Kyle shuddered.
Cameron cringed. She loved bugs, they were awful beneficial for her gardening hobby. But she and bugs had always had a relationship where it was obligatory to stay out of each other’s errr... beeswax. To actually touch a bug outside of butterfly ladybug territory, -especially a supersized one- was never something she considered for her bucket list.
Let alone a zillion of those nasties.

“We’re going to try to keep all bug fighting to a last resort,” Will Laurel explained. “There is something we can do to stop them before they emerge, but we might be running out of time.”

Take stared at Kipp, watching his movements, and noticing that he was a shy and awkward one. Just like himself when he was younger. He felt a bit of remorse for wanting to mess with the kid.
Take flashed a toothy grin.
“Hey no worries”
“What’s your name?” he questioned, extending his arm out to shake the winged boy’s hand.
"Oh, uh, Kipp. Or Kipper heh. N-nice to meet you." He said awkwardly taking his hand over the table and giving it a shake.

Annie shuddered at the mention of spiders. She'd only gotten stuck in a web once, but it was more than enough to make her never want to see one ever again. A spider 1/6th her size could do way worse than just tangle her up and have her trapped for hours.

"Stopping them before they get here sounds like a great plan!" She said enthusiastically.
