THE MOTHER'S DAY HATCH-A-LONG!!!! The last day to join in and set eggs with us is April 28th.

I have read many post were people do not like porous eggs, and read just as many where people keep them and they hatch just fine.

I would keep it, I'm optimistic that way.

Lovely picture!!

I agree! Lovely picture, and...yes, I hatch those porous eggs..no problem!

I always double-box my shipments so that any super-smash action doesn't actually get to the eggs. If you make sure the eggs are fat-side up in the inside #4 box, unable to move and well-cushioned, then cushion that box firmly inside a #7 box, it works perfectly, I use packing materials from other shipments I get from work, but you can get free biodegradeable 'peanuts' and whatnot from lots of places if you ask around or post on CL or freecycle. I love the air-pak balloon-type things for cushioning the inside box.

You're lucky the PO refunded anything- they have excluded eggs from insurance and shipping guarantees. Stinks, but I understand.

Renee, your packaging is incredible!! Everyone should get some of your eggs just to check out the packaging (and to hatch some super cool chicks).

I just checked..
I have 9 different hatch dates coming up (turkeys, geese, chickens, emu)..
plus two more for the eggs that haven't arrived yet (muscovy and geese) split between 4 bators..
plus a broody turkey on eggs,
a shipment of freedom rangers and turkey poults due to be shipped to me in the beginning of May..

plus right now I have 4 brooders running with chicks (quail, turkey poults and chickens)

my husband thinks I have lost my mind..... i think he may be right

Lost mind, found some joy. I can live with that

. . . Obviously, I'm trying to catch up on the thread.

I don't know about everyone else but in our house chicken math we don't count eggs in the bators or chicks in the brooders or that I might sell one day or the silkie or serams. So we only have like 30 chickens. Meat chickens don't count either.
I'm getting 10 buff Cornish and 5 white rocks keeping the buff hens and the rock Roos to have my own meat chicken eggs. So really these are related to meat chickens so they don't count in the chicken total.

So it's not as bad as I thought then.

I can live with a few. My poor husband on the other hand just don't understand.

I will survive.

Finally took a picture of my eggs. Hope it's ok, I am lacking one egg in this picture. I forgot to take the picture before I started taking them out..so, I started with 14.
Need to take that therm/humid. reader out..it isn't working right. I don't worry about the temp in this bator, it keeps it at 99.5 on it's own. I know the humidity is fine as long as I keep the sponge wet. I like the lower humidity, around mid 40's, high 30's. I just re wet the sponge when it starts getting dry. Then in lock down, I like it around 65, so need to put one of my many other readers in for that time. I am seeing a lot going on in the eggs..veins..the four in a bunch on the lower right are questionable last I looked, so will have to look again soon.
