Hi everyone! So I think my final count on day 24 is 13 chicks out of 17 eggs. Not to bad I dont think.

The 4 eggs that didnt hatch somehow died after lockdown.

Oh well Im VERY happy with my 13 babies.

But I have a question, there is a little RIR that hatched with yolk still coming out, it has been in the bator all day and it still hasnt fluffed up and the yolk is slowly drying up. But it laid in the same position so long I think one of its legs is deformed. It sticks out behind it the other looks to be normal. Could it have been him laying there and its stiff. He can move it and hes still alive just not moving around much it peeped alot when I picked it up to move its leg a bit. It wasnt a peep in pain though. What do you guys think?

Give the chick some polyvisol baby vitamins non iron formula!! Worked wonders for my chick that was totally twisting b/c it could not coordinate its body. After 1 night it was standing up and after the 2 days it was all 100% ... Now I can not even tell the difference between the chicks. If the leg is nomal but out of position you can maneuver it into position and make a brace using a baindaide ....

The more and more I look at this chick the more and more I see that it wasnt supposed to hatch. It wasnt zipping and wondered why. Well now I know. The leg is not only place wrong his inside never were aborbed properly and one of his eyes doesnt even open that I saw. I dont know what happened during incubation that caused this.

Anyone else?

I'm hatching my first eggs - 8 Welsh Harlequins, due date is tomorrow, and I'm going crazy! The eggs have been rockin' and rollin', and the waiting is horrible! I'd even be happy to see just one single pip

. I'm sure that it gets easier with time, but what do you do to keep busy while waiting for a hatch? It's dark, so no working with the horses, the man is gone for the night, and i'm here with nothing to do...besides run to the 'bator every 10 minutes and whistle so I can see my eggs move. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas!

yes, I'm about to check the incubator, again, too. I try to do research or catch up on threads to keep busy. For me it did start to get easier after a number of hatches. Bear with it, you'll have fluff balls in a day or so. GL
