The move from Oregon to KY is over the work begins...Very Pic Heavy

You got to grow up in Alaska?! I'm so jealous... I keep trying to find openings with Indian Health Services, we want to end up there... I just worry we'd get lynched because we are vegetarian and somewhat liberal.

Well we are in Sadieville, KY North of Georgetown.

Not really a culture shock for us, we are both from the south. DH graduated from Kentucky and I grew up in South Florida with racehorses, many from this area.

We love it but were not expecting some of these colors for sure....LOL

The property has 5 acres total, most of it in the pasture area, the orchard has a couple trees in it but I plan on putting more and some berries in there too. It really will be nice when we put in the work on it. I am very happy with it and not nearly as emotional as I was when I first arrived. Between the trip and me cracking a molar on day 2 of it, it was a long long week. But, tooth gets pulled Tuesday and work begins tomorrow on the birds' area so it will be good.

Everything is so green here, much like Oregon minus the mountain lions.

PS: the beadwork of Suede is still here, I will finish him up and make him a shield as soon as I get the craft room sorted out and get unpacked.

Ah I ran an add in a couple local area papers for a place/small farm to rent. The owner responded and sent me the old real estate listing. So, I prepared a 6 months lease with purchase option and sent it to the owner to sign. I have 90 days to decide to buy if we want ... we have already decided to buy it. So, I am having an inspection done later in the month and then an appraisal to determine sale price....we already decided of a max amount we would pay which was put into the agreement originally so, now we go down from there if adjust it at all. The price is fairly reasonable especially compared to the west coast.

I also put in a call to the attorney for the estate next door which has a huge field across the private road from us, we would like to pick that up too if possible to split that property...that property totals 118 acres and we would like 10 - 20 across the road from us. So, time will tell.

I have been following your adventures, you sure are loved on this forum! Your place looks great. I think everyone has to put their own stamp on their place to make it your own. I guess I was most shocked with the tobacco stains. Who would want to sell a house with walls like that. And the carpet--yech. But I guess the work is half of the "fun" of moving to a new place. What are your birds doing untill you get their new home cleaned and ready? Good luck. Can't wait to see pics of the finished project.........

Cetawin,
After I got up off the floor from the Attack of the Yellow Kitchen, and had a restorative glass of white tea, I decided you have a jewel under all the paint.

The good bones are there, the rest is makeup and a little smoke and mirrors- USE THAT BARN- there is great potential there- I love your pasture and that great little pond. Yeah, hard work, but that makes it really yours!!! Only one guest room? How are we going to have the first SWDW convention at your house with only one bedroom?

Thank you...I knew I was tolerated around here but I thought loved by only a couple. LOL The older lady who lived here, did so with her grown son, daughter-in-law and two teenaged daughters living upstairs....she stayed in the basement, which is the cleanest room in the house. The daughter-in-law and son were slobs for sure and their teenage daughters were only slightly better. it will take time but it will be great.

Beth, Yeah the work will be worth it in the end.

we can hold the meetings in the NOT yellow diningroom and the livingroom and we can throw hubby out of the Man Cave, use the craftroom/guestroom and put blow up mattresses everywhere. Dellie lovers can make it work. Good weather we can stash folks in the barn too.
