Gecko fluttered his wings. No worry, he thought. Once out at sea, there'd be no alley-cats for miles around. She'd only have the gulls to feed, and he could probably befriend them beforehand. No bother, acting out of line wasn't his intentions. He planned on doing his best.(Barnacles and cracks??? On the Quicksilver??? Vhanya would rather be caught dead than with barnacles on her beloved ship
(Muskets and flintlocks abound! Especially in Pirateās Cove)
Vhanya couldnāt help but feel a grin beginning to hint at her lips as dawn sunlight spilled out from sea mists over the docks; sending sparkles over the shining waxed decks of the Quicksilver, and setting aglow the soft edges of feathery wings and hair of her new crewāher crew! Once again, Captain Vhanya Marriott had a crew, and she was as giddy and light as a schoolgirl caught awhirl in first love.
Ember was as obstinate and fiery as a mule, Lichen was shrill and entitled despite her somewhat scrappy appearance, Galen looked positively weary to the bone, the greasy Phoenix could only be described as cripplingly naive, and there was a very strong chance the other two had recently escaped a mental institution.
Vhanya had dealt with worse, she could make it work - she always made it work.
With the feeling of fresh confidence leaving a spring to her step, Vhanya turned to the possibly deranged Harpy man.
āYou may join my crew, but understand if I catch you stepping out of line Iāll have your corpse fed to the gulls and alley-cats.ā
Without looking in his direction, she jabbed a clawed finger towards the cowled fellow. āAnd you; you may stay around until we set sail. Iād advise you find a way to make yourself useful and slightly less⦠eerie.ā
She looked up just as Emberās wings clapped open and she took to the crowās nest. Something was amiss, Vhanya new to trust Emberās sixth sense more than her own.
To add to the oddness of the Harpyās sudden flight, one of Vhanyaās non-supernatural senses was nagging her. A faint.. scent? And one not entirely unlike that of the large, shaggy herding dogs she frequently saw during her times in Neustadt.

"No need of unda-standing. I'm-a watching my steps," he said with the confidence of a fool. Gecko turned on a heel and walked to the side of the ship. His nerves quivered with excitement. If there wasn't possible on-lookers, he would have leaped into the air and did a back-flip as he hooted his joy. He drew in a deep breath. Perhaps that would calm his excitement before he made a fool of himself. The salty air burned his nostrils. A familiar scent of the forest caught Gecko' attention. That wasn't right. He hadn't smelt anything to do with the forest since he had entered Pirateās Cove. He smelled the air further. A wolf, he guessed. No, not likely, especially in a populated place such as this. They never went near humans or Harpies. He passed the scent off as only a memory of his old dwellings and crossed over to the other side of the ship.
