-The Mythics RP-

‘A frayed rope is a weak rope.’ Maybe if you’re fat, thought Coal. “No,” said Coal. “But I’ll be spending a lot of time here, so I guess it’s time I learned.”
"Yes... and no?" Gecko said.

("Mad?" Or did you mean "crazy?")

Gecko fluttered his wings the moment they were free. "Thank you, Coal!" he exclaimed. He smiled at Raven. "If it a problem," he paused and grabbed the slight fray. "We could just fly past it."
As a movement of show, he threw himself off the ratline and spread his freed wings. When he flapped them in, he suddenly yelled of pain. "Ah! My wings!" Gecko dropped down toward the waters below. Gripping the rail as he fell past, his body slammed against the side of the ship. "Ouch!"

(@-Eridanus-, if you want, Lupin can help him now seeing she's closer.)
Raven watched Gecko fall.
Hm. Fly over it indeed.
His prediction had come true after all. The worst thing that could happen was falling into the water. "just let go!" he called.

Looking back to the problem at hand "Good idea," he tossed one end of the rope around a shroud and tied it, "Like this and I'll only show you once so pay attention," he did it again slowly and tugged it tight before dropping the rest of the rope in Coal's hands. "When you're done, cut the old rope off."

Then I’m sure not to remember it, thought Coal.
Fortunately, his hands were faster learners than those of Amer. (It took me so long to learn to do the figure-eight knot and I still don’t know how to undo a daisy chain.)
He took the loose end of the rope and clumsily tied the knot on the next shroud over. Surprisingly, he succeeded. Succeeded at making the ugliest clove knot he had ever seen. He repeatedly tied this a couple times until he had something a little bit prettier and moved onto the next shroud. This he repeated until he got to the last and tied it off. Coal always carried a pocketknife. This he used to cut the lose end off.
After that, he cut off the old rope.

Lupin was there in an instant, reaching over the sides to grab the harpy. Her claws dug into the wood as she leaned over the edge, and she hoped there wouldn't be a noticeable divot. She grasped the harpy's clawed hand and tugged, feeling his sharp talons digging into her fur.

Gecko held on tightly to Lupin's paw. He flattened his feet against the ship and climbed over the railing. "Ee, thank you," he said, stumbling to the deck. He stood up and patted Lupin on the head like she was a dog. "Thank you so very much."
Gecko looked over his shoulder and stretched out his wings. They were sore from their recent tangle. He flapped them with a body lifting flap, which caused them to shoot full of pain. "Ah," he folded them in. "I think my wings injured themselves."

(i love the image this paints in my head)

(I’m only quoting this one for now, since Nautalis is directly addressing Vhanya

Vhanya crossed her arms, looking over each member of the trio.
”I’ll take you, if you’re all willing to join my crew for the time being.“
She pointed towards the varying Mythics that had begun to accumulate at the base of the gangplank, ”you ought to come to my cabin, my crew has arrived and I’d rather you not be in their way.”

She finished her sentence with a pointed sweeping of her hat towards the steerage, directing the Siren and her human companions. She noticed the man’s look of disapproval towards the display of her crazed Harpy in the ratlines. “If you don’t shoot him first, I will,” she chuckled.

Returning the hat to her head, she softly stepped beside the human girl and began to speak in a hushed, direct tone.
“You’d best be glad the bounty on your head isn’t enough to entice me- the fact is, you’ll be safest on this ship where your face isn’t plastered on every flat surface.”
Her eyes flicked down to the girl’s boots, “have you been treating them yourself?”
If this girl has any gift as a medic, I’ll have a surgeon yet. If she’s willing to cut off a leg is
another matter….
Tay straightened and took in a slow breath, speaking through her exhale, "Oh, you are so creepy." She cleared her throat and let the bangs fall over her eyes. "Yes, yes, on both accounts. You're harboring a fugitive with blisters." She took another breath, then added in a quiet tone, "A grateful fugitive with blisters."
The ship felt sturdy beneath her feet. Trust worthy, even. Memories flooded her mind, and scenes trapped her eyes in a repetitive flow, wringing her thin mind out until is spun with the shallow density of a thread coming loose from its spool. It was tenacious fear that gripped her so heavily, but she did not show it. She could not show it. The world has numbed, and it was simple to make cold again.
She would weep for the past later. But for now, her heart must stay intact.
Vhanya nodded, “good. I’ll speak with you later concerning your position aboard my ship-“ she fixed her eyes towards the waxed boards of the main deck, “-and by the by, I’ve known much worse than blistered fugitives.”
She turned to join the others, slowing slightly to adjust her hat and coat and to gesture for the girl to follow.
Tay anticipated the woman's pivoting heel, and she mimicked the movement, shadowing Vhanya's form. "That's grateful blistered fugitive to you," she cocked her head, "Captain."
She turned catlike eyes back to her newfound shadow, “you-you’re welcome?” Her lip curled in the slightest, “no need to thank me yet, girl, you’ve barely set foot on my ship. I’m certain I’ll do something more pressingly deserving of gratitude later.”

She resumed walking.
Jintao gave the Harpy one last look before following the women to the captain's cabin. He remained quiet, keeping his thoughts to himself. The planks was too clean and the materials looked too new. A new ship, he assumed, much to his dislike. She probably hadn't even seen a storm yet, say less a battle like Nautalis was hoping for.
Nautulis followed the Captain, silently watching the chaos in the ratlines unfold with mild amusement as she listened vaguely to Vhanya and Tay's interaction.
Her steps faltered slightly as the bedraggled Harpy fell from the air, falling uncontrolled over the side of the ship, barely catching the edge as he did. Nautulis's feet had angled ever so slightly in his direction without a second thought, recentering on course immediately as the new Werewolf arrival rushed to assist.
"Quite the, ah, chaos you've already got sorted out here, yes?"
The siren turned a mischievous gaze on the Captain, smiling carefully.
Her eyes flicked sharply to the movement from the bowsprit of the ship, losing the easy-going glint as she locked her gaze on the Harpy.

"Captain."
Ember landed with a flourish on the quarterdeck, her legs bending slightly to absorb the contact, a single red feather swirled across the deck as she did, resting gently on the contrasting black boards.
"We found one recruit." She pointed a clawed finger at the canine. "Did Coal explain?"
The Harpy's sharp gaze slowly drifted across the three new arrivals, looking them up and down carefully.

Jintao studied the Harpy before glancing back at the werewolf. "That's it?" his disgust slipped out as he turned back to the hybrid. "And a dis-" he stopped himself from finishing and took a step back. Way to go, Jintao, insulting her like that. You haven't even joined this crew yet and you're already talking to it like you've got some authority position in place.
"Sorry," he turned to the side. "That was uncalled for." He looked back at furry creature and frowned. He saw it as a disease alright, and one that was worst than any ratting stowaway that he had encountered. Everything about joining this ship felt wrong to Jintao. He hoped that the Siren would find something to turn the offer down, though with all the Mythics around, he figured she wouldn't.

“Okay,” she said. “I guess between me and Erin we can keep it open, but I can’t keep an eye on it all the time.”
Martha looked at her piteously. “Oh, dear, I understand. You’ve been generous to me when I needed it, and it’s only right to return the favor. Goodbye, Layna.” Martha hugged her.
Alayna hugged Martha back gratefully, then stepped back and picked up her dropped clothings bag and dusted it off. “Thank you Martha,” she said, grinning. “Just do your best with the bakery. I don’t want to put too much on your plate.”

"Yes, it was," Ember replied coldly.
The Harpy dropped from the quarterdeck to the main deck before the Captain and her three tag-alongs.
"Is this rabble joining?"

Nautulis arched an eyebrow slightly at the Harpy's words but held her tongue. She could already tell by the Mythic's demeanor that she wasn't one to be provoked.

Martha used the well-worn assurance she always had at the ready. "I'll be fine," she assured her with a warm smile. But it was only ever a half-truth. While Martha held things together, it was always barely. She glanced back at the open door between house and bakery. "Well, I'd better make good on my promises and get back to watching the bakery. Goodbye, Layna." She stepped back through the door and shut it.
