I'm up to 5 chicks now. 4 HRIR and one surprise white Chantecler. He must have snuck in an extra egg. Good thing Camille wanted White Chantecler, and she's over the moon! Little guy is super cute!



I have 10 more pipped. A few of those are zipping. I love hatching

I love surprises! And a chanteclerc is great since I had 10 on order from kevin as well . I cant wait to have them all home!!

I don't have much time to catch up right now - the contractor is coming out to discuss putting a gravel road down to the barn. I just wanted to check in and show you guys this picture of one of the HRIR chicks that hatched last night. So cute!



They are hatching a day late. I have more than 60% pipped, but they should have started yesterday. Oh well. I find my genesis runs low on temperature in the winter because of the up and down of our house temperature... must be because of the wood fire. I have it up to 102 and it's only 98.8 in the incubator. Who cares.. The chicks still hatch and are doing very well. I opened the incubator very quickly to snatch this one out for a picture (with clean hands of course!) I watched the humidity and it didn't change any lower than 62%.

Chickie back in with the others.. because I don't have a brooder set up yet.

I cant wait to havethem home! Thank you so much for hatching them for me

I am candling my hatch tomorrow, it is the halfway point for my hatch. I am excited b/c it is the first hatch from my own chickens eggs entirely. They will all be mixes, but I really like the variety of mixes.

I am wanting to know what methods/programs you all use to put watermarks on your photos.

I don't watermark. I sign. I use Gimp which is a free editing program. Pretty basic, but I like it. I edit my pictures through iPhoto which is also very basic.
