The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Thanks to those that sent greetings.

I got this in a PM...wanted to re-post in case it will help prevent an injury:

"Beware of metal bars at base of metal dog crates."

Woke up to George trying out his new crow. Made me laugh when I heard it. It was much better than his attempt a couple weeks ago. Hopefully since he is not super loud that the neighbors didnt hear him. He will need to go back to Sue soon. I had hoped he would hold off for a few more weeks. I do enjoy him so much & hate to return him since he is so good with all the girls. And he is very handsome. You can also see his GIANT feet & his gait. He makes me laugh when he walks. Its almost like his *shoes* are to big

Its almost like the crow creeps up on him........& interrupts the bug he is trying to catch

I love feather footed boys. They are so funny with their walks.. Like they are wearing high heels!

Reminds me of this galloping rooster ;)

No he's not hurt. The owner said this is just how he runs. He walks normally.

Aoxa I love the video. And yes it is like he has high heels on !! Its funny tho Sophie his sibling has feathered feet as well & walks like normal. I could spend hours just watching him walk. I love his feet

I am sure going to miss him. As you can see he still doesnt know he is a boy & shouldnt let the big girls chase him but he is very good with his tot siblings. He is is as tall as the big girls but still scared of them. I hope I can see a pic of him when he is fully grown. I really think he is going to be a big boy,

I really like the little red roofed shelter in the video - looks so nice and what a great way to provide shade.

Aoxa, I have seen that video, very funny. Interesting thing is that our hen started to run like since she got bumble foot, but for him I am sure it is the feathers.

Armor, sorry you will not be able to keep your roo.

Thanks Leahsmom, I use a crate like that on occasion. I will be more aware when I use it in the future. Sorry for your loss.

Those with experience with bumble foot, could you tell me if the heat in the leg goes down the next day after treatment or does it take longer. I am trying to decide how much time to give her to heal.

Thanks
