The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

But what constitutes "properly installed"?

It is attached with "staples"...the kind you hammer in. But there is no "faring strip" over the edges of the wire where it's stapled down. (Not sure how to spell faring strip...) Does it need faring strip over the top?

I'm talking staples you hammer in, OR stapled and covered up with the strip like you mentioned.

Clementine adored getting in at the chicks. The hammered in staples + hardware cloth stopped her.

you are NOT unloved, quite the opposite.

I read another thread and it appears that the issue is that the new software update is conflicting with IE version 10. Could you try downloading and installing Google Chrome and or Firefox as some people are finding Chrome works and some Firefox.

Worth a try.

The only other alternative is to find a way to roll back to IE9 but not sure how to do this. Maybe somebody on here would know or alternatively, I will look and see if I can find instructions on the web - I don't want you to disappear and I love your photo's.
Thank you Alibabe. I am addicted to this thread and my friends here are a big part of my day.

I did upload Google Chrome. It caused me more problems.

I will wait and see if it sorts out.

So...how likely is it that a coon could rip 1/2' hardware cloth off frames that have relatively small expanses? Is it possible? Has anyone experienced that before?

Most of what I've read has been about chicken wire.
A persistent coon can get into anything eventually.
I understand the fumes concern. Move to a distance that makes you comfortable.
The hard wire can be breached, however it takes many times of them returning and working at it. You will notice if they decide to venture in. I highly doubt you will have them. You can hear them in the area at night time or early morning. They are talkers. They are trying to keep cool too and will find plenty of bugs this time of year. They are opportunistic hunters. I am sure they have already decided your birds are too difficult to get at.

I'm a bit late on this but I've had BCM for a couple of years now, raising them from eggs. I bought an adult roo after they were grown. Mine are not at all aggressive unless I want to take an egg out from under them. Wrinkles crows a lot but is very attentive to his girls. Mine are a very curious bird and are involved in all we do. At any time I can reach down and touch them. Since I have no need to pick them up, I don't. I've never had Welsummers so I can't compare. I will add that at the tiny chick stage, the roo's of any breed always try to peck me when I reach down in to feed or water. Remember, this is just a comment on my Marans.

I find it strange.. Google Chrome is the only browser that has never given me issues. Firefox was so slow, and IE was the worst. Out of everything, I prefer my Safari the absolute best though.
I've been using IE on Windows 7 ever since I got my computer with no complaints. Every thing was fine until a couple days ago on this forum. Then KABLOOY!
