The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Congrats Justine and Susan!!

I wish same couple marriages was legal in all the States. My daughter is in a same sex relationship and I really wish they could get married..breaks a mothers heart to see her baby suffer. They have exchanged vows, however it not being legal sucks. No sharing of benefits and non of the same Tax benefits etc. sad

Thank you Vicki! I'm sorry your daughter doesn't have the same rights as we do here. I think they will eventually.

I was hoping he'd come around so I could tell him how his rainy half dead chick experience helped me come to the rescue of my own. :)

That hen looks to have crop issues..wonderful that you have seen it and are being active. It is not blocked, or she would not be so aggressive with food. She likes to eat and socialize so she is good.

I have read that kefer can get rid of that in a few days. This time of year the chickens eat those long blades of grass and they can get knotted and slow down the digestive tract. You might have to massage it a bit every day to get things draining good so she does not loose too much weight. She looks good and is not a cull IMO

The US is always slower then other countries unfortunately. We will get there one day, but not soon enough.

She does have a large crop and it is bloated. This has been going on and off since the end of May. I gave her the coconut oil and eggs this morning. The "littles" were going after the eggs also even after eating a big breakfast. Plan is to give her the yogurt, feed mix with the violet, and if we go to the farm fair today I will get some kefir and try that also. It is just frustrating since it seemed to go away and then came back. We will be going away for a few days next week and a young girl will be watching them, but I worry.
