The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Justine - I love that pinterest board!

My daughter got married in the barnyard and had her reception in the barn of an old homestead that had never had electricity or running water on the property.  My hubby (mostly) and I decorated the whole barn and even built a stairs to the upper level lofts so that we had enough seating.  We brought in a generator for electricity and they had portable pit toilets as there was only an outhouse on the land!

It was wonderful and homey.

Your things are so pretty!  :love   I'm sure you'll LOVE the way it all turns out!  And your food sounds great :D

I've been instructed I am NOT ALLOWED to wear my rubber boots. No fair ;) lol

I would have loved to have it here, but thinking of all the people and the goats.. and the possibility of any of the chickens or geese being chased by children.. yeah doesn't sound stress free to me. :)
Not to mention clean up.. which I already did

Your daughter's wedding sounds like it was amazing!

Congrats to you and Susan Justine.

I could just see it if you had at your house........your saying your vows and in walks Marvin with another bag on his head crying away........while a rooster starts crowing getting the others started.......then the hens start clucking, ducks quaking, geese a Layin'.....................would certainly make for a lot of laughs :D

How are eggs sized

ep.gif

I just picked white sage ( a kind of wormwood) to dry for the chicken nests, and also picked tansy, mint, and lemon balm to dry too for use this winter in the nests. Put some fresh tansy under the hay in the nests, and sprinkled rose petals on top. Hens aren't very fond of the rose petals, but I like it.
Pictures please!!

Beautiful basket

Quote: They are great egg layers..however the conversion is not the same as a traditional egg layer.
