Girls first snow day. ....5 inches of wet snot. Only one came out so far to eat and drink. The other two are just looking out their window. First hen went right back in but she went in to lay it turns out.

Last year my "kiddos" were NOT going to walk on snow

I was usually out there sweeping the snow back from the steps down so I started sweeping a little back off the ground so they could see the wood chips. That's what convinced them to go out at first - being able to see something familiar to stand on.


In other news...
Did you try doing your chicken house with the open front and everything else closed? I'm looking forward to a report if you try that!

Old girls were the same way last year. As long as I shoveled they would go out. I'm hoping the ground cover growing will convince them this year. And being fed outside.

We are having our last nice weekend with temps in the 50s & 60s. Going to try and get the rest of the leaves up. Weird having the tractor out with snow piles still in places

Got up at 4:00... no power. ..10:00 and still no power. Still flipping light switches that don't work. Was going to post a picture. ... Oh yeah, no power. ....
Lured the girls out with some turkey meat and BOSS after shoveling but they went back in.
Dog is wearing out his door. ... every time snow falls off the trees he's out the door to try to "catch" it. Going to kill himself trying.
I will fix up the coop today. ... try closing the vent above their heads? And open up the front.
Hate to close a vent but that is the only way I can see to make it open air. Condensation may be an issue. ...
Down to 30% power on the phone. .. what am I going to do!
Yea! ! Power back on at 10:20. No more phone posting!
