Told you I was anal... It really is a curse. I just have this anal numbers thing in my head all the time... And not just livestock but ration ratios, due dates, budgeting... Even my egg setting/hatching calendar is color coded to match the color associated with each breeding pen and the egg cartons for each pen match also.
I just tend to be a little over the top sometimes - but I can never be faulted for sloppy record keeping. LOL
I just have this numbers overload thing. My degree is in software engineering and even though i haven't worked in that field for years i suspect it is a hold over from that.

When I am not aware that my mind isn't shutting down for the day (along with my mouth sometimes) hubby hands me a glass of wine... That's my clue to shut up and turn it off. LOL. Good thing that only happens once a week or so or I'd be a lush. ROFL.

I'm sure you will never fully get past it. But I think you are doing much better than I would be. And the new barn looks great along with that lovely incubator.
I have a lot of really bad days where I am terrified to come home from work for fear I will find everything smouldering. It's something that is very hard to get over. I can look back at pictures and remember good times, but the fear of fire is very, very strong.

I was afraid to put Christmas lights up this year because extension cords are needed. I have a very hard time with extension cords.

And my DH said I was the only one to sort out batches of hatching eggs by set date color.
Since I incubate in one incubator but have 2-3 batches of eggs in it at a time, I put little colored dots on each egg to tell me when it was set. Right now the white batch or no mark is hatching. next up is the blue marked eggs. It just makes it easier to look at the calendar and see a blue day and know to move the eggs with the blue dots.

That's a great idea!

I think it might make it to zero today!! On a sad note my chicks have not made it to the sorting office yet..the made it to cleveland mon night and tracking disappeared. I will be suprised if any make it
