The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Well...the peppermint oil won't work like whatever you used from the pharmacy! If you want quick and you don't mind whatever it was that they gave you I'd go for it!

On the peppermint oil, I used it full strength from the bottle. Applied when itching. it does have a "burn" feeling. But...I didn't read the EO book to see if they recommend diluting it so I don't know what their recommendation is. I have 2 friends w/ EO encyclopedias that would look it up if you want me to ask them. I just know that I can take it straight with no problems.

If you are going to use it, I'd recommend trying it on a small area first to be sure you don't have any adverse reactions. Don't use it on your face.

It appears you are correct about the typo!

And no, I have personally never had scabies but it was only by sheer luck and determination. There was an outbreak of scabies in my high school and I simply refused to go to school for two weeks. When I first saw kids (starting with the younger ones) begin to scratch themselves raw, I thought they might have cases of body and or head lice...not that uncommon in that school district but when the administration was mum for a whole day, I went home and stayed there. It was on TV the following day that an epidemic of scabies had stricken Jefferson and surrounding county schools and several schools in Indiana.

They called out what was equivalent to the health department's 'national guard' and they began painting kids with something that looked like white shoe polish...all over their bodies.

My sister and I didn't get away scott-free. My grandpa sprayed me all over...literally. with Adams Flea and Tick spray for dogs...Sis got the same abuse from grandma.

I suspect grandma and grand pa sprayed each other, but they would never have admitted it....

I am going to preface this post w/ the disclaimer that I was raised quite conservatively by my Gparents.

When I was in class for my basic EMT license there were several nurses in the class getting prerecs out of the way for flight paramedic. Anyway they were talking about a situation in the ER the night before it seems a homeless man presented and was out of his head and had to be physically restrained to keep him from harming himself or others. They were saying how they had to basically lay across him while others applied the restraints and it wasn't until they were finished they noticed he was "covered in crabs" ............................ So as they are telling the story I am sitting over in my seat paying rapt attention and can't imagine first of all in a land locked state as Oklahoma where a person would come in contact w/ one crab let alone a whole infestation of them, and secondly how could you miss seeing the crabs from across the room even let alone laying on top of him and the crabs!!!!! When I asked for clarification they all rolled w/ laughter, I thought a few were going to need oxygen.
