A girl can hope lol. My son told me he heard him when he got home from, work at 7 am this morning. Oops.......I didn't hear him in the house so hopefully the neighbors didn't either. My mom said with the cold wx coming no one will notice him. I hope not!! I don't need a visit from the town :/

OK Naturals, meet the new family member. We got him at 13 weeks and he will be 4 months old on the 7th. He's learned to leave the chickens alone, for the most part.

Wants to play with the cat who doesn't but is fitting in nicely. Smart as a whip, his mom is the only miniature poodle to complete the Hunting Retriever finishing test. Here's a vid of his mom, Star.

And here's Gus.....

This is my favourite pic. I just love Gus.

On another note, here is a family member we're trying to rehome. A gal in Texas (@Soltaria ) wants him but I've never shipped a chicken before. I think I have to buy a shipping box somewhere cause I don't see them on the USPS site. Anybody in driving distance of North Idaho want him? or advice on shipping him? I'd really like to get him to @Soltaria as she seems to really want him.
He's a Blue Laced Red Black Wyandotte and he's 6 months old.

Shipping is easy and this is the perfect time of year to do it.

First off, the buyer buys the box... not you. She can go to this website http://poultry2.tripod.com/id3.html and find the box size that he needs. For that, she'll need to know how tall he is (so he is comfortable) and how much he weighs so she gets the right size box. She buys the box online and has them ship it to you.

You have to arrange with your local post office closest to the airport for a time to bring him down. Once you get the box, it will arrive flat, you want to have it ready for him so open it up and secure everything and put a couple inches of clean shavings in the bottom. Depending on when they say to have him there, you want him to have a big breakfast or dinner or whatever time of day it is. Give him all his favorite things to eat. You want him to eat well and get full.

For the trip, some people put an apple cut in half in the box and some people put a can of corn taped into a corner (drain it first). As long as his head and comb can fit into it. If not, you might want something like a bowl or something you don't mind sending away taped to the side of the box, elevated from the floor and in the corner.

With the box, she should also send you a check or money order or whatever you require to cover the cost of shipping in addition to the cost of the bird. You will get this information from the post office before she ships the box to you. Weigh the bird and add 2 or 3 pounds for the box and shavings to get a quote from them on the shipping cost to her zip code.

That's it.

Good luck.

Well that's not the answer then is it....

I can't help but wonder if the people who tried the collars and killed their roosters didn't use a little common sense. From what I understand, the instructions clearly state to put the collar on loosely to begin. I would guess that means so he can barely tell its there. Tighten it by millimeters. Don't make it so he cannot breathe.
