The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Go to the bottom of the page, switch to Mobile Version, and then you can give posts a thumbs up. But, on the desktop version you can't with the iPad. Took me a while to figure that out. I still don't thumbs up much, because I really don't like the mobile version.

So if anyone gets the thumbsup from Ashdoes, it must have really impressed her ;)

Lol...too funny, but totally true.

My English is still not getting the job done. Today he got on all good had a good grip, and did a little shuffle and simply stepped off. Not even close contact. I am so used to yard rape I find it a bit unnerving.

delisha~ok thanks i will keep that in mind. thanks for the info..i guess i will do the same with the newbies as i did with the exsisting flock. i put up the coop to what i thought would be good for them and what the weather was like, then i watched the very closely and made adjustments as needed. i am still improving as needed. love this adventure!!

Hi everyone,

I just returned from visiting my son at University of Delaware. He has mono, and I was so very worried about him. Made him 4 of his favorite dishes, and drove down to make a mommy call on how he looks.

Hate when my children are sick..

Tried to keep up on my cell phone, but was difficult. I'll catch up more tomorrow.

xo all..

Melabella,

It is difficult when children are away and ill. I am glad you can go and see for yourself. Mono is not fun and I am sure he was delighted to see his mommy.

Is his name Nigel? LOL - he sure is a pretty boy! I have a brag - lately our silkie's eggs have been fertilized! Our little cochin boy has figured out what goes where. No plans to hatch any silkie x cochins though.

MB - so sorry your boy has the crud! What a great mom you are, taking him some goodies to help him feel better!!!

Thank you Aoxa..
I ordered Silkie Eggs from Catdance..the DH is so happy. They should be here by Wednesday..we are having good weather and I hope it continues. I might ask her to put in a hand warmer. Just in case...

Update on Peep, she had a grass blockage in her digestive tract. 2 doses of EVOO+molasses flushed her out and she was back in the flock today. I also move my carport framework with the tarp on it over to the coop so I can have a temporary covered enclosed run for the big kids. Too many hawks around and I don't like leaving them in the coop all day until I get up in the afternoon. Once I get the pallet coop and permenant covered run built in Feb it will be better. Then I can build the silkies coop and covered run. The runs will not be ground predator proof as my dog is great(even in old age) about keeping them away, but the coops will be like Fort Knox. I also started a second bucket of FF with more grains for the big kids. So have FF for the chicks and some for adults. Well I gotta get back to watching this football game.
