The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

I probably won't believe anything he says.  Who can trust an ape?

Hah! I'm still laughing at this! I'm probably going to use it!

I don't think you caused a riff. I love a  good rollicking discussion. It's that or we  could all just post pictures of our eggs all day. Curiosity is what makes the world go around. :highfive:
:clap

Thank you! Truly! I write about and share things I do not because I think it's the best way or the only way but because it's fun for me to share. Period.

I have lots of time but little room! Hah! If we were neighbors, I'd be digging stuff up on my place to give you , collecting seeds, and sharing cuttings with you. Sometimes I run into people in the village grocery store   that I don't remember knowing. They will say, "Remember that rose cutting you gave me fifteen years ago? It's still blooming and I love it."  I've shared lots of plants over the years. I would do it with you in a heart beat. :D

Awwweee thanks! Last year I added 3 apple trees to the yard. I need to dig in and get planting! A friend of mine usually has a plant exchange in the spring and I get some good stuff. :)

Just can't believe how dumb I am sometimes! 2 days ago I saw a broken egg pushed out from under my broody hen and thought must be she didn't want it under her for what ever reason. It could be a baby! If I hadn't just got home from work and am snuggled in my chair I'd go out and whip that hen off her nest.. Funny thing, I have 3 broody hens all setting in 3 nests side by side and they switch nests. Every day I go out the Delaware is in the EE nest, the EE is in the BCM nest. I've been shaking my head. What are the odd's that I can wait until morning?

I've been noticing new names on here also. Welcome everyone!

Be sure you incorporate a chicken in your post! lol (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)

While I was at work, you people were funny today! And all of this chick hatching is making me jealous!

I may have one of my BO's may be broody. Been on the nest all day and is sleeping in it tonight. Gonna pull her off tomorrow and see what she does. If she is committed, she will get eggs(already have some on the counter just in case). Yay for chicken math

everyone with an incubator needs to get on the Easter hatch a long..they have great prizes..I won a gift card from Lowes and 2 dozen eggs for the NYD hatch a long.

I'm thinking about it. I just had an incubator full of eggs flop due to an over zealous, helpful hubby and a thermostat adjusting 5 yr old grandson. 2 hatched, 1 deformed and was culled. Little Bob, the only living one died today after 3 days. Never in my life have I been through this. I may try a few but I need to divide the EE's and the BCM's. I'll slide over and check on it. Still haven't gotten out of my chair.

I posted over there. Got all caught up in the excitement and hullabaloo. Then I looked at my calendar...The batch in my bator now hatches next weekend...My Cadance eggs go in two weeks after that. I don't know when my Heritage RIR eggs and chicks arrive in March. Somewhere in there I may need to purchase another incubator if I join the hatch-a-long! Not that that's a bad thing. hah!
