Ya'll have a wonderful evening .

Nesting boxes...

Where are they? Birds like to nest close to the ground and roost a bit higher. there are great suggestions to help you out on here. You can continue to place them on your roosts.
If your nest box is high, you might want to change it. If I were a chicken and the nest box was high, I would roost in it too. If it is low to the ground they are used to ground roosting and the placement will work after a few tries and they mature a bit.
The nesting box is just slightly lower than the roosts. I'll have to ask DH about lowering it...he loves a project!

I know this isn't the coop thread but we put an addition on my coop today with a large window in the front. The light is on for the pic but is shut off normally. I leave for work by 6am and it gets dark pretty early this time of year. I love the window and have to give credit to someone on BYC where I got the idea from. I have 4 more chickens still in the older part of the coop wondering where the roosts have gone. Sue

On the buckeyes:
I think I remember seeing them on the road. If you go over to the road thread and look in the photo gallery you should be able to find those photos - then you can see who they belonged to.

ETA: Sorry...I see I was way late in responding to this!

Where is bulldogma and aoxa? Are they gone for the holidays?

BDM went to NC to get Silkies for her daughter and aoxa not sure about her she'll probably be back Mon.
Miss Lydia, you know me so well ;) I am a Monday - Friday poster. Usually weekends are spent getting ready for the week and doing so many projects around the farm.

Loveigee, nice of you to notice my absence! I'm very happy for BDM's daughter :D

Quote: I butcher my chickens..and have for over 30 years. I am pretty sure I would recognize a tape worm. I have seen pictures of others who have butchered out there own chickens and seen tapeworm in the pictures. Not hard to miss.

However, I am glad you have stopped over..You have some good knowledge to share. I don't always agree with it, but, you are certainly knowledgeable.
I dont butcher my birds, mine are layers. If yours ever get tapes, let me know...they come in quite a few shapes, sizes and lengths. I know how to get rid of them.
You would probably be my first choice to ask advise if I was going to give medications to my birds. Thanks so much for the offer.
