Trying to decide between this and welded wire to protect my garden this year.
I wish I knew how much electric fencing I would need for my 1.5 acres. I'm not sure how to measure it other than buy one of those yard meters, but they are $100. Maybe I'll get one and return it.

The fence charger I have is good for 7 100' lengths of fence. Definently would take more than 7 lengths for 1.5 acres. Would have to have another fence charger. I'm kicking the idea around to get another length or two myself and expanding the safe area. As far as measuring your area, you could just pace it off, unless you have really short legs, it's about 3' to a pace.

I do have short legs LOL

I have a one sided fence that was put up to keep the birds from going to the neighbours, but it doesn't work. I want to fence off the entire yard. I think the one side is 250 feet. I made it far back in the woods. So if I double that and add two sides..(even though the ends are not as long as the length) that's 1,000 feet of fencing. Though I could be totally wrong.

Will one energizer handle that many feet?

I need to keep the turkeys and the sheep in. The chickens are allowed to go in the neighbours yard and whereever. I'm not even sure I need the poultry size, but it needs to keep the turkeys in. Any suggestion? The cheaper the better. :p

Quote: It's time consuming, but I used little wooden stakes and a spool of construction string... I strung off my entire area to be fenced then went 25' at a time (longest tape measure I had, lol) and marked the string with a black sharpie.. then did the math to figure out how many linear feet of fencing I needed.
