The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

W-E-L-L, on my way to Tractor Supply, DH has been after me to buy a few red chicks. He doesn't care what kind other than he wants them to grow up and be red. I've called them EVERY DAY for Buff Orpington's and no, just the usual. We have a hatchery about an hour away called A&J Poultry. Never heard of them before and someone mentioned it on my fb page. They have them. Anyone heard of them or any reviews? Tomorrow is not a normal Easter for us. I'm spending it with my mother and my kids and grandkids are sick so they can't go. I thought soup and crackers sounded good. On to chicken math. I have room for ? (NYS says we have to buy a minimum of 6)

Yes it makes more of the nutrients available. (its calmed down some over on the FF forum lol)

And if you find the link that would be great. I brought my old gardening book with me to leaf through at work to see if I could find a chart of what to plan when. Mother Earth has a chart but its only monthly and cumbersome to look at.

Check out www.smartgardener.com - my absolute favorite!!! Gives you weekly to-do's after you put your information in what you are going to plant, etc.

While its not chicken related *technically* I thought some of you would get a chuckle out of this picture:

Apparently my cat, Max, thought he would try out *nesting* in the egg carton

I was half tempted to give him some eggs and see if he would go broody
