The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Hey. Jammies are great :) I have one set of "house clothes" and one set of "going places clothes" Since I actually leave the property at most once a week those don't get a lot of use...

I would really like to be in on the hatching egg experiment, but not until I have another broody or spring weather rolls around probably. I'm trying the crossbreeding as well, although I don't think that my smaller bodied buff orpington roo is ideal for that. He's a big bird but nowhere near as meaty as some of the birds that come out of the english lines, or lines that have had english bred into them.

I tend to wear mine as long as possible also. Tho my neighbors are closer than your so any yard work has to be jammie free. But during the winter when I am not outside as much I can usually go all day with my jammies on. As long as I dont have to go anywhere the jammies stay on.
Hehe, I was caught by my neighbor while putting the trash out yesterday morning. He recently retired...darn, I stood out there chatting with him while very aware of the passing traffic.

I'm usually like a ghost, in and out between cars totally unseen, but not then I wasn't.

Meh. I don't care who sees me. Let them see. lol

Only have one neighbour, and their granddaughter kept coming to our house in her underpants. I figure I can wear my jammies with ease now

Quote: She is a lady I met on PSO (Poultry swap Ontario) who graciously sent me hatching eggs from her project Wheaton Ameraucanas, Black and Gold and Blue Wheatons. Big birds for Ameraucanas. Only problems are the sometimes green legs but aside from that they are perfect.

Has anyone's chickens not seen Jammie's? I think if I were dressed in the morning to go let them out might worry them.
While I won't go out in the jamies, I have caught DH out on the hot summer nights in boxers closing the prop door. I just can't stand the thought of poo getting on my favorite pj pants.

Quote: I have heard yoga pants come close, not sure those would be work approved though.

Anyone who wants the eggs just pm me..we can all do an experiment and share information about shipping eggs. The do's and don'ts.

I will just charge for shipping and supplies.

I have one request
you must post your information here.

When they were shipped
when they arrived
if you accepted shipment or returned it
how eggs were packed
how air cells looked after 12 hours
This sounds like a fun experiment. If it is still going on in Feb / early March I will pay for eggs. Right now I have 5 meaties that are doing very well on their rationed feed and grassy free ranging time.

Quote: Some dresses, like muumuu style ones are not much more than some nightgowns, I'm sure you were fine :)

So we had our first light "rain" of the fall/ winter yesterday (So Cal)
My black Orpington Tank decided it was the perfect time to stay inside & go broody. Guess she doesn't like the rain....
Silly chicken.
