I'm with Kass on this. Very sick chicken.@CoopChick That was one ill chicken! Green is infected beginning necrotic tissue, that liver, heart, lungs, did not look good at all very unhealthy coloring of all the internal organs. Free yolk in the abd is a bad sign, that is likely where the infection started and she went septic from there.
If it is egg yolk peritonitis it is due to her genetics. She was a red sex link. Egg laying issues are common among high producing breeds. So my question would be:
What CAUSED the chicken to be sick/in that condition?
Since we're the "NATURAL CHICKEN KEEPING" thread, PREVENTION is a key-word around here.
So..what would cause that kind of appearance? Is it a possibly metal poisoning?

Nothing you could do. You can catch it early and cull so you can eat them though.

That condition did not happen overnight w/ that advanced infection and organ damage, not saying she was acting sick, they hide sickness well. Just saying she was sick for a while. Cause is broken egg laying machine, likely genetic, hiding early s/sx, but even if caught early, very little chance of fixing it.So my question would be:
