Yikers. I had to deal with this yesterday when one of my RIRs was doing the same thing! I massaged her crop for several minutes, then held her head down to the ground, then massaged again. Eventually she gave an indignant BWAAAWK! and hacked up half a mouse. *grr*
Don't give up on her. Keep massaging and maybe some olive oil to help her hack it back out, whatever it is!
Just put it through a milk filter..My camera and lens are on sale right now for 40-50% off on Amazon. Wish it was that cheap when I bought it!
My mom just got one.
OMG too precious
Not chicken related, but had to share these two pictures I took of my niece Payton while watching her this weekend.
She is a very good baby.![]()
Del, you were talking before about using goat milk instead of formula. Did you do anything with the goats milk to feed it to an infant? Her mother has stopped breast feeding, and I hate seeing her eat formula. Of course I didn't give her any goats milk, but for the future and my own kids - I'd never want to use it. Not even my dogs would clean up the spilled formula off the ground from the bottle! That says something right there right??
I'm sorry to bring yet another problem here but I evidently have a sick chicken. She seems to have a clogged esophagus? She was puffed up and doing a choking motion and closing her eyes this morning. Her crop doesnt appear full. I couldnt find it by rubbing her. When I ran my fingers down each side of her neck I can feel a bump about midway. She has what looks like a bit of spitup on her bottom beak. I didnt smell anything. I noticed this after feeding this morning but I dont know how she was yesterday for sure as I didnt spend much time observing yesterday. Im pretty sure she was eating this morning as I probably would have noticed anyone hanging back. Im not sure if she has drank. Advice is so much appreciated. I'm still whining over losing my bantam to a pred last week.. getting discouraged.
When I went out to bring her in she was foaming out the throat and nostril. I brought her in and got the foam out, massaged, and got her to swallow some oil. The mass in her neck seems to have moved to her crop. I decided to put her back with the flock And she seems normal own.. pecking and running around. I'll watch for a full crop at roost and empty in the morning. I hope it didnt impact lower. But moving it seems to have helped.
Once, I had a raccoon leave a note: "Please leave BBQ sauce, I am tired of them plain!" !@#$#$@%^^&*^#%$# predators. Minks often just dehead them.
