The chickens have started their Christmas decorating.


They got some lights that are battery operated at Walmart (Cheaper than this link states. They're smart shoppers

)

We haven't even started decorating at the house. I guess they have time on their hands. (It does get boring for them about this time of year.)

I was taking down the electronet before the next big snow tonight..supposed to be another 4-12" depending on proximity to the lake.)

I think I killed all of my birds..

I am just sick..they have been acting off for two days and I attributed it to me not fermenting with the change in weather... I bought a new bag of crumbles and was going to feed that out through all of the storms. ..I had several downed adult healthy birds this morning and all of them are acting off..several dead chicks...the bag of feed is full of mold..I am doing molasses and hoping I can save some of them..but I think its too late..almost 50 lbs of poison I gave them..

Looking for antidotes but most of this is relevent to long-term low dose.

Delisha, I am just sick hearing about this. Keeping my fingers crossed for the best. please keep us posted. I wish I was nearer to you , I would help you do the molassess flush for each chicken.

It effects the liver.

Not sure if a flush will accomplish that but I'd sure try whatever I could too. Maybe get some of it out of the system.

One item that will flush liver is Dandelion. Not sure they'd eat it at this point.

Just incredibly upsetting.

How many have died? Any that don't look affected? LM found more sites then me, I only found one reference to turmeric as an ingested antifungal for mold poisoning, but no reference to how much or a time line.

Funny isn't it, I would try squirrel but not rat. Yet what is a rat but a squirrel without the fluffy tail.

Squirrels are clean and they eat nuts, acorns and other seeds including Dogwood. Rats live in sewers dumps and other places filled with vermin. So yes they are both rodents as are rabbit. I have eaten squirrels and rabbits and enjoyed them. Rats are another story.
