Must have been the same snow we got last night. It was truly beautiful!

A little freaky because this morning there were animal (non-chicken) tracks in the run! The run is fully enclosed by 1/4" hardware cloth, including an apron all around it. I'm pretty sure it's a vole or a shrew, but it was still a surprise.

one of the things I really like about snow is being able to see so easily what has been out and about around the run and coop. one of the bad windchill days last week when I left the flock in the coop for the day, wild turkeys were in the run messing and probably dustbathing under the coop. Wasn't happy to see that, and I doubled my lice/mite checks this week.

course, wouldn't see some critters that are tunneling through the snow. like a weasel.

I'm truly beginning to hate snow but happy that the only tracks I can see were made by my dogs.

Ours is very wet nasty snow so I'm keeping the birds and Heelers in, at least for the early part of

the day. This will give the Patterdales a chance to check out nooks and crannies for any varmints

that might have slithered in with the nasty weather last night.

My incubator is full to the max right now.


There are at least 200 eggs in there. Think I may have over done it lol

I have 79 of them reserved. The others I'll post an ad, and some I will raise in my puppy whelping box in the basement , some I will put in the brooder in the barn.

I have a large box filled with batteries..all kinds of batteries and they have been in that box for 20 years and collecting. I better do something about it.

I have chicks hatching about every 5 days... Rhodebars, F1s, HRIR, and production Reds. About 50 hatched so far... about 100 incubating.

Any battery can start a fire. it only take a direct connection between + and -.

9 volt batteries have the terminals on the same end so they are more likely be shorted together.

I had some change and a fingernail clipper in my pocket while shooting a wedding.
I had to replace the AA's in my flash quickly and dropped used ones in my pocket.

After a few minutesI smelled something burning and much to my surprise it was my pocket.

Being front of a church full of people during a wedding ceremony is not a good time to find out your pants are on fire.

Not a laughing matter at all..... but kind of made me laugh the way you said it!

We have been taking precautions with all batteries since this was brought to our attention. It makes perfect sense but just never thought about it....
